Top Ten Prayer Requests For You People

Please pray ...

  • For the salvation of the You people. As of 2001, there are currently less than 800 confessing Christians among the 10,000,000 You people. That is .008% Christians.

  • For how you can respond to the needs of the Yous. The last estimate is that missionaries sent to Muslim people are about 2.3 per 1,000,000 people. Compare that with the ratio in the Christian cultural blocs of 186 per 1,000,000.1 That’s 80 times more than in Muslim cultural areas. One of the few requests that Jesus asked us to pray for is “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.” Luke 10:2 (1 As supplied by Todd M. Johnson of World Evangelization Research Center)

  • For the birth of a You church - specifically in East Youland. The You people are considered an unreached people group. This is because they have no viable, indigenous, church planting movement among them. In other words, this means that the gospel has no means of spreading among them because of several reasons. Some of the reasons are lack of missionaries, cultural practices, religious beliefs, and life under an oppressive communist government. Whatever the reason, pray that the darkness will be pushed back and that a You church will be established that plants other churches in the region.

  • For the production of audio and video evangelistic tools.

  • For Yous to have dreams of Jesus Christ.

  • For doors to open so missionaries may begin to live and minister in cities that have no current missionary work being done in them for the first time.

  • For the quick completion of the You Bible. They have no completed Bible in their own language. Pray for the translators and the editors that they would be given wisdom and health by God to see through the completion of a translation that is accurate, natural, and clear. According to the latest information, a complete Bible will not be available in the You language until 2045 if work progresses at its current rate.

  • Other Christians in their area would reach out to them. The Yous mostly live in a region that spreads across two different countries. Many of the You people live under an oppressive communist government. They also are the minority people in that country. Among the majority people, there are believers in Christ. Although there is a lot of racial tension between the majority and minority peoples (Yous), pray that the majority Christians would put aside racial prejudice and spread the gospel of Christ among the minority (You) people.

  • For the few You believers who struggle due to persecution.

  • For laborers to accept God’s calling and come to the harvest fields of the Yous' homeland. Luke 10:2

Other Prayer Requests:

  • Pray for the birth of the You church in China. The few believers struggle to grow in the face of persecution. Pray for emerging spiritual leaders.
  • Pray for Christians who live among the Yous. Pray for cultural sensitivity and a heart for the Yous salvation. Pray that the enmity between the races would be broken.
  • Pray for the many towns and villages still without Christian messengers. Yous have reported “signs-and-wonders” encounters with Christ. Pray for more workers with language and discipleship skills to follow up these experiences and to see churches planted among Yous.
  • Pray for spiritually discerning people with language and cultural knowledge to produce audio, video, and radio materials for evangelism and discipleship.
  • Pray You Scriptures will be translated into both West and East scripts. Pray that more literature will soon be available for Yous in the West where there is now more freedom to share the Gospel.
