How Can I Get Involved?

Some of the ways to get involved are listed below:

  1. Prayer – The First Friday of each month meet at church to pray for our adopted unreached people group. See weekly bulletin for room assignment and time.
  2. Adopt a Missionary – you personally or a Sunday school class can develop a friendship with a missionary. Regular, intelligent heart-felt prayer is your missionary’s number one need. Keep a personal file for that missionary, i.e. hobbies, interests, anniversary, birthday, children’s information and likes.
  3. Pen pal Program – Start a pen pal or e-mail or five-minute telephone relationship with the missionaries. Have your children or grandchildren write their children. Birthday cards are very important to children. Mark your calendar to send cards far enough in advance to get there on time.
  4. Loan and R&R Program – Loan your car, offer your “get-away” cabin, cottage, trailer, or extra-room to missionaries on furlough.
  5. Christmas Courier Program – Relatives of missionaries send their Christmas presents via a courier. Lay people love to travel. By going they catch the vision.
  6. Emergency Program – Sign up to be contacted for emergency prayer. Tell the missionaries that when they have a true financial emergency to put you on a list to be contacted, and that you will write a check for $_______.
  7. Magazine Subscription Program – Send the missionaries a magazine subscription every year.
  8. Couch Potato Ministry – Missionaries are real people and love to keep up with home. Make video recordings of children’s programs and send videos to them. Tape commercials, college football games for the grownups too, whatever they request.
  9. Travel Assistance Program – Assign a helper to your missionary. That helper would go for 2 weeks before they travel to or from the field, to help them pack and look after the children during the trip, keeping an eye on them in the airports.
  10. Short Term Missions and Visits – Go on a “Pray Through the Window” prayer journey to where your missionary is. Or even organize and travel on a short term mission trip to their area.
  11. Christmas in September – Buy and send gifts to missionaries. Break down the needs of your missionary into a Christmas list or catalogue which can be distributed so people can make or buy gifts in the name of that church member.
  12. Garage Sale – sell things you do not want in order to pay for things the missionaries need like travel money when going or coming.
  13. Vacation Assistance Program – Plan to vacation at a nearby tourist area, taking some time to help your missionary.
  14. Etc.
