Visions and Values

Mission

  • Worshiping Christ Passionately

  • Loving People Fervently

  • Proclaiming Christ Faithfully

Values

I. Worshiping God

  • We believe that our purpose in life is to glorify God in all that we do. I Corinthians 10:31; Romans 12:1

  • We believe in the power of the Bible to transform lives. It is the source for all doctrine and practice. This requires the teaching of the life-changing truths of the entire Word of God. II Timothy 3:16-17; Hebrews 4:12

  • We believe that prayer and praise are vital parts of our fellowship with God. Philippians 4:6; Psalm 100:4

  • We believe that the Holy Spirit indwells each individual Christian to empower, convict, comfort, and guide us in our daily relationship with God. John 16:5-15; Ephesians 3:16-19

II. Reaching Beyond Ourselves

  • We believe that Jesus came to rescue sinful people and has called us to share the message of salvation with others. Matthew 1:21, 28:18-20; Acts 1:8

  • We believe that the church exists to equip us in reaching others for Christ. Ephesians 4:11-13

  • We believe that the gospel is for every generation. John 17:20-23

  • We believe that church planting is an effective means of spreading the gospel. For this reason, we will plant as many churches as God allows. Acts 1:8; Romans 15:20

  • We believe that the gospel is for every nation. For this reason, we will train and send workers into other cultures. Matthew 24:14

III. Building Relationships that Last Forever

  • We believe that true ministry is built upon personal relationships. These relationships are first built and learned in strong families; therefore, a high priority will be given to developing healthy family relationships. Ephesians 5:22;6:4; Deuteronomy 6:6-9

  • We believe that Christians should honor and prefer one another in love. Romans 12:10; John 15:15

  • We believe that maintaining healthy relationships with God, family, members of the church, and the community is essential to being an effective disciple of Jesus Christ, and is the basis of true ministry. Romans 12:16-18; Matthew 18:15-20

  • We believe that Christian growth is accelerated in small groups. Every member will be strongly encouraged to be part of a Growth Group. Acts 2:42-46; Hebrews 10:25

IV. Developing Ordinary People into Mature Christians

  • We believe that every person has worth before God and is worthy of respect from others as well. Psalms 8:3-6; James 2:1-5

  • We believe in the empowerment of the Holy Spirit to transform every believer into a faithful, productive follower of Christ. Every member is gifted and becomes involved in ministry. Romans 12:1-8; Ephesians 4:11-13

  • We believe that appointment to leadership is based upon previous faithful, fruitful service combined with spiritual gifts and natural abilities appropriate to the task. Becoming a leader involves a higher level of covenant relationship to the rest of the church. Matthew 25:21; James 3:1; Acts 6:3

  • We believe in full devotion to Christ in all that we do. This includes our belief that we should serve God every day with all of our resources (time, talent, and treasure). Romans 12:1; Colossians 3:17

V. Preserving Unity with Diversity

  • We believe that love should be the supreme earmark of a Christian. Matthew 22:36-40; Galatians 5:22-23 This love results in unity in the body of Christ even though there may be diversity in non-essential beliefs. Ephesians 4:1-6

VI. Promoting Flexibility and Faith

  • We believe that freedom in Christ requires faith and allows for great flexibility. As a church, we seek to be available for whatever God wants to do among us. Isaiah 43:18-19; Matthew 9:16, 17.

  • We believe that the life of faith expresses itself in the willingness to trust new people, try new things, and adventure into new areas of ministry and life. For this reason our leaders seek to adjust to the particular needs of each generation while remaining true to the eternal truths of Scripture. I Corinthians 9:19-23; Hebrews 11
